Unplanned interruptions – 23 October 2020

Water Interruptions

 

 

1.Lawley and  Lenasia

We are experiencing high water demand in all the reservoirs in the region. The reservoirs are currently very low. We will be closing Lawley reservoir that supply water to Lawley 2 in order to build up storage. We will also close Lenasia Hospital Hills which supply Lenasia South, Magsoj Manor, Finetown and we will also switch off water pumps that supply water to Lenasia high level Reservoir. We anticipate that this exercise will allow us to supply water in the afternoon around 19H00. Affected areas will be Lenasia South, Magson Manor, Finetown, Zakariyya Park, Lehae, Vlakfontein and Lawley 2.

2.Ferndale
Please note that the contractor installing fibre damaged main water pipe at Republic and Kent Avenue. Depot is aware and will resolve.

3.Hurst Hill Reservoirs
Please note, some parts of Johannesburg that are fed from our Hursthill reservoir are still undergoing water shortages as a result of the power outage experienced by our bulk water supplier Rand Water. We appeal to residents to use water sparingly to allow the system to recover fully. Many high lying areas such as Sophiatown, Auckland Park, Coronationville and the surrounding areas are still battling as we are experiencing high water demand.

  8. Brixton Police station ( Cnr High & Mercury)
  9. Crosby Clinic
  10. Rahima Moosa Hospital
  11. Slovo Park Informal Settlement (Coronationville)
  12. Kathrada Informal Settlement (Newclare)
  13. Edward Street (Sophiatown)

14.No 46 Wilma Street(Montclare)

  1. Riverlea Recreation Centre
  2. Quellerina and Florida Glen truck will roam around in the area
  3. Sophiatown Clinic and Fire Station, truck will roam around in the area
  4. Helen Joseph Hospital, water tanker is there to pump water to the hospital’s tank

  1. Pimville

Kindly note that we have a collapsed valve along Modjadji Street in Pimville zone 6 that has left large areas of the township without water. We have isolated the area that will affect all of Pimville. Water tanks have been organised to roam the affected areas. There is no estimated time of restoration.

Load shedding affects water supply

UPDATE: POWER OUTAGE AFFECTS WATER SUPPLY IN HURSTHILL AREA OF SUPPLY    

Some parts of Johannesburg that are getting a feed from our Hursthill reservoir are still undergoing water shortages as a result of the power outage experienced by our bulk water supplier Rand Water.

The power supply was restored in the evening last night and all our reservoirs and towers affected are still at the recovery stage.

Although the majority of the low lying areas are currently receiving supply, many high lying areas such as Sophiatown, Auckland Park, Coronationville and the surrounding areas are still battling as we are experiencing high water demand, and we appeal to residents to use water sparingly to allow the system to recover fully.

We have in the meantime placed water tankers at the below points and are supplementing with roaming trucks to minimise the impact.
