Water shortages in the Hursthill, Crosby and Brixton Areas

City Power is currently experiencing a power failure that is affecting our Crosby Pump stations. This means we are unable to pump water to our Brixton Reservoir and tower. The Brixton Reservoir is currently sitting at very low levels due to the bulk supply challenges experienced yesterday. We currently do not have an estimated time for when power will return.

If power does not return in the next couple of hours, residents fed from the Brixton tower zone and then the reservoir will start to experience a water interruption. Thus we plead with residents to please use water sparingly.

Residents can get updated information on our social media pages throughout the day.

Water shortages in the Hursthill, Crosby and Brixton Area

Rand Water lost power supply earlier today at their raw water pump directly affecting bulk supply into the Johannesburg Water systems feeding Johannesburg, Soweto, Roodepoort as well as the Greater Randburg area. The power failure also unfortunately affected the recovery rate of the Hursthill, Crosby and Brixton systems that were on the bend but had not fully recovered.

Rand Water confirmed that power has since been restored but it will take some time before the system gets back to normal. We urge all residents in the Hursthill, Crosby and Brixton supply zone to please use water sparingly as we strive to get the system back to full capacity.
