The search for Khayalethu Magadla continues at the sewer outfall in Dlamini
Johannesburg Water isolated specific reservoirs, direct feeds and plugged sewer lines to aid the search and rescue team to inspect the sewer line. The plugging has assisted a great deal in reducing the flow substantially.
The search and rescue operation today commenced with the team excavating the embarkment at the old landfill site approximately 8meters above the manhole to expose the pipe and drill to insert the camera.
The next step will be the inspection of the line along Fuscia Road in Klipspruit West from 13:00. This exercise will encompass the team walking manhole to manhole, right up to the split chambers leading to the JW wastewater treatment works. The distance between where the search will commence today, and the split chambers is about 4 kilometers.
JW pleads with the community for support, understanding and patience as the team focuses on the search and recovery of the body of the missing boy. Further updates will be advised as the exercise progresses.
Details of the search results will be made available. Furthermore, we plead that the family be allowed space to get through this terrible ordeal.
