Commando System
• Brixton reservoir: Improved overnight due to mitigation strategy of throttling; however, the level remains low due to poor supply pressure. The outlet is currently opened at 50% to retain capacity. Poor pressure to no water is expected in the supply zone.
• Brixton tower: Remains critically low and pumping continues at half the capacity due to low reservoir levels.
• Hursthill 1 and 2 reservoirs: Both reservoirs enjoyed some gains overnight, however, they remain low due to poor inflows. Both outlets are opened at 50% to retain capacity. Poor pressure is expected in the supply zones.
• Crosby reservoir: Due to maintenance, the reservoir is supplying in bypass mode. Low pressure to no water is anticipated in the supply zone.
South Hills tower
Pumping into the tower continues and supply is normal. However, there may be poor pressure while the system recovers.
Midrand Systems (Rabie Ridge and Diepsloot)
Rabie Ridge reservoir and tower
The reservoir maintained stability overnight due to the daily throttling, however, the level remains low due to poor supply and high demand. Both the tower and reservoir outlets are opened at 30% to retain capacity. The tower is supplying the area through bypass mode. Both supply zones may experience poor pressure.
Diepsloot reservoir
Water levels remained stable throughout the night. The outlet remained at 50% to retain capacity. The supply zone may experience low pressure during peak times today.
Alexander Park reservoir
Levels improved overnight and although the reservoir is supplying normally, it is still lower than desired levels. Johannesburg Water will monitor the system throughout the day.
Alternative water supply has been arranged for the affected areas.
Residents are requested to observe level-1 water restrictions which are implemented
from 1 September to 31 March. These restrictions prohibit the use of hosepipes to
water gardens, wash cars, clean driveways, as well as fill up swimming pools and
water features between 06:00 and 18:00. Instead, the use of greywater is encouraged.
This is to ensure that systems are kept stable throughout the coming months. We urge
residents to report any form of vandalism and theft of water infrastructure to 0800 00
25 87.

Direct feeds into Sandton impacted by the closing of Sandton 1 and 2 meters
Johannesburg Water is aware of the current water supply challenges affecting residents in parts of Sandton which are fed off direct feeds.
The water interruption is due to the closing of the Sandton 1 and 2 meters to allow Rand Water reservoirs, which are further upstream of the system, to recover. These reservoirs are currently at low levels.
As a result, the Linbro Park and Marlboro direct feeds have no water supply. Although the system is due to be opened again today at 15:00, it may take some time for the network to build up capacity and supply normally again.
Johannesburg Water will monitor Sandton system’s direct feeds and reservoir levels.
The following suburbs are affected:
Linbro Park Exts 42, 62, 86, and 89; Linbro Park A.H; Modderfontein A.H; Westlake View Exts 10 and 11; The Woodlands, The Woodlands Exts 1, 4, Woodmead Exts 5, 12, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20, 23, 25, and 30; Buccleuch, Sandown Ext 24, Gallo Manor, Gallo Manor Exts 2, 3, 4, and 6; Eastgate Exts 3, 8, and 12; Kelvin, Kelvin View, Marlboro Ext.1, Marlboro, Marlboro Gardens, Marlboro Gardens Ext.1, Kew, Bramley, Bramley North, Bramley North Exts 1 and 2, Bramley Park, Alexandra Exts 24, 25, 32, 35, 51, 52, 59, 66, and 68; Alexandra East Bank, Wesco Park, Glen Atholl, Glen Atholl Ext.1, Kramerville, Wendywood, Morningside Manor Ext.5, Morningside Ext.17, Morningside A.H., Wendywood Exts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 11, and 14, Eastgate, Eastgate Exts 6, 9, 13, 18, and 21; Wynberg, Wynberg Exts 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7; Atholl Gardens, Atholl Exts 1, 5, Atholhurst, Atholhurst Ext.1, Raumarais Park, Barlow Park, and Elton Hill Ext.1,

Sandton systems
Most reservoirs retained stability and are supplying normally. Johannesburg Water continues to monitor the Sandton systems, including the direct feeds.
Midrand Systems
Rabie Ridge reservoir and tower
The reservoir and tower maintained stability during the day, however, the level remains low. The tower is supplying the area through the bypass mode. Both supply zones may experience poor pressure. Customers are requested to use water sparingly.
Diepsloot reservoir
Water levels remained stable throughout the day. The outlet remained at 50% to retain capacity. The supply zone may experience low pressure during peak times. Customers are requested to observe the level 1 restrictions.
Linden 1 reservoir and tower
The reservoir remained stable throughout the day and is supplying normally. The tower continued to supply normally during the day, however, due to high demand and poor supply during the day, the tower is now low. Johannesburg Water is monitoring the system and the tower is expected to improve overnight.
South Hills tower
Pumping has resumed due to improved supply and the tower is currently supplying normally, however, poor pressure is expected whilst the system is recovering.
Alexander Park reservoir
The reservoir is critically low and will be throttled overnight to build capacity. Poor pressure to no water is expected in the supply zone.
