Commando system update
The Commando system continues to have a low overall capacity because of inadequate supply. The monitoring and implementation of necessary interventions is being carried out by Johannesburg Water.
Crosby Reservoir: The overall capacity of the reservoir is stable but low and supplying fairly. The system is supplying fairly.
Brixton Reservoir and Tower: The reservoir levels have declined and is critically low. The outlet will be closed overnight to build capacity and open in the morning. No water is expected in the supply zone overnight.
Brixton Tower is declining but supplying normally. It is affected by reservoir low levels. A combination of poor pressure to no water is expected in the supply zone.
Hursthill 1 and 2 Reservoirs:
Hursthill 1 continues to be on bypass, and poor pressure to no water can be expected in the supply zone. Reconfiguration is in place to boost supply and provide relief to customers.
Hursthill 2 remains critically low at 11%. Outlet will be closed overnight to build capacity. No water is expected in the supply zone overnight.
Alternative water supply is being conducted for the affected areas.
