Parktown 2, Dunkeld, and Berea reservoirs update
The Parktown 2 Reservoir continues to be constrained due to demand exceeding available supply, while the Berea Reservoir is critically low. Both Rand Water and Johannesburg Water’s teams are investigating the reduced supply.
Because the Parktown 2 Reservoir supplies the Dunkeld Reservoir, the inlet to the Dunkeld Reservoir remains closed to boost capacity at Parktown 2 reservoir.
As a result, Dunkeld reservoir is critically low. Customers fed by all three reservoirs will have poor pressure to no water supply, especially in high-lying areas.
There is no estimated time for restoration at this stage; however, Johannesburg Water will closely monitor and make necessary adjustments to improve the situation.
Alternative water supply will be arranged for affected customers as and when it becomes necessary.
