Midrand system is under strain

The bulk supply system (Midrand) continues to be under strain due to high demand.

Grand Central System
The Grand Central Reservoir is at less than 50% capacity, while the Grand Central Tower was empty overnight. Pumping could only commence early this morning, and it can be confirmed that the tower is building capacity currently. Areas supplied from these zones will receive low pressure to no water, especially in the higher lying areas, as the tower recovers. The system has been configured to allow some recovery of the
Grand Centra system during the day.

Erand System
The system was configured overnight to allow it to recover. While the reservoir did recover slightly, it remains low. The tower has some capacity and is supplying. Areas fed from these zones will receive low pressure to no water, especially in the higher lying areas.

Johannesburg Water is working on configuring the outlets to allow the system to build up overnight, while demand is lower on the system.
Johannesburg Water will arrange for alternative water to the affected areas as and when required.
