Commando System Update

Following the two incidents that affected power supply at Rand Water’s Eikenhof pump station and Vereeniging Treatment Plant this week, the Commando System has not yet recovered.

This is affecting water supply in the Commando System (which comprises, Hursthill, Crosby and Brixton).

Bulk supplier, Rand Water, has agreed to pump an additional 100Megalitres overnight, in order to boost capacity in this system. Johannesburg Water will also continue with closing the Hursthill 2 reservoir outlet overnight, to boost capacity for tomorrow.

These interventions will assist in the recovery of the commando system for tomorrow.

The team will monitor the recovery of the system and updates will be provided to customers.
