Update on Randjieslaagte Reservoir

Following an update earlier regarding the replacement of the 10m length of steel pipe, the sourcing of material is in progress and the Johannesburg Water team have engaged with suppliers. Further update regarding the availability of material will be shared tomorrow. The team is also attempting to fill the reservoir through the leak while monitoring the situation.

More water tankers continue to be provided to the areas affected.

Affected areas include: parts of Alexandra, Kew, Sandringham, Bramley Park, Bramley North, Bramely View, Lombardy, Sunningdale, Sandringham and Lyndhurst.

Update on Randjieslaagte Reservoir

The Johannesburg Water team repaired one of the two leaks yesterday. The remaining leak involves the pipe replacement of the 10m length of steel pipe, which has not commenced yet as material is still being sourced. As soon as information is available about the material availability, estimated timelines for the pipe replacement will be provided. Further update will be shared tomorrow.

In the meantime, water tankers will continue to be provided for the areas affected by the water outages.

Affected areas include: parts of Alexandra, Kew, Sandringham, Bramley Park, Bramley North, Bramely View, and Lyndhurst.

Yeoville pump station update

Pumping resumed around 18:00 and the network is improving. Recovery is expected overnight, and Johannesburg Water will continue to monitor the situation and the backup pump.

Necessary repairs will continue during the week to restore normal operation.

Update on Randjieslaagte Reservoir

The reservoir remains on bypass while the replacement of the 10m length steel pipe is underway. Some areas may still experience low water pressure. Johannesburg Water is monitoring the situation and will attend to challenges while the system is recovering.

Repairs at Lyndhurst have been completed, and water has been opened. Supply is expected to stabilize overnight. Water tankers are roaming for the areas affected by the burst.
