Customer Notice
Sandton meters to be closed tonight as part of water demand management
As part of water demand management efforts, Johannesburg Water will be closing the Sandton meters tonight, Wednesday 4 September, from 20:00 until 04:00 tomorrow morning.
This is to ensure water supply distribution to struggling systems and areas within the Johannesburg Water network.
The Linbro Park and Marlboro direct feeds will be affected the most during these interventions, and all customers fed by the Sandton System may experience poor pressure to no water overnight. Once the meter is reopened in the morning, it will take several hours for the system to fully recover.
Areas affected by the Sandton System:
•Linbro Park Direct Feed
•Marlboro Direct Feed
•Linbro Park Reservoir
•Marlboro Reservoir
•Illovo Reservoir and Illovo Tower
•Bryanston Reservoir and Bryanston Tower
•Morningside Reservoir
Customers are requested to repair leaks on their properties as these also contribute to the high demand on Johannesburg Water systems. Residents are requested to observe level 1 water restrictions which are implemented from 1 September 2024 to 31 March 2025. These restrictions prohibit the use of hosepipes to water gardens, wash cars, clean driveways, as well as fill up swimming pools and water features between 06:00 and 18:00. Instead, the use of greywater is encouraged.
