Update: Burst pipe in Witkoppen
Repairs on the 300mm main are completed.
Valves are being operated gradually to restore water, however, restoration may take time due to the large areas affected.
Areas affected include: parts of Broadacres, Dainfern, Dainfern Ridge, Dainfern Valley, Kengies, Craigavon, Maroeladal, Beverly, Lonehill and Witkoppen.
Further updates will be provided.

Update: Major pipe burst in Lyndhurst
Following the water outage in Lyndhurst, upon investigations it was discovered that the issue was with a PRV and not a pipe burst as initially communicated.
Repairs are concluded and water is gradually filling in.
Low pressure to no water can be expected in high-lying areas.

Systems Update
Although the overall systems are stable, high demand still persists even though we are in a low demand season.
Commando System
There is an improvement on the overall supply since the start of the week, and further improvement is expected in the next few days. However, the system is still experiencing high demand, which remains an ongoing concern.
The Brixton reservoir has maintained stable levels throughout the week, while the tower levels have improved significantly since Monday. The Hursthill 1 and 2 reservoirs, as well as the Crosby reservoirs, remain low, but continue supplying adequately. Roaming water tankers are supplied as and when necessary.
Soweto System
The Zondi reservoir has been struggling with high demand, which has resulted in poor pressure to no water in parts of the supply zone.
To build capacity and as part of the Entityâs water demand management strategy, the reservoir is throttled overnight for a few days a week. The reservoir will be throttled overnight again on Thursday, 16 May and again on Saturday, 18 May. During those periods, residents will experience poor pressure to no water while the system is being throttled.
Randburg/Roodepoort System
Overall, the Randburg/Roodepoort system is supply normally; however, there are pockets of isolated incidents that are causing water supply issues. Water is currently isolated (closed) in Broadacres so that excavation and repairs can be conducted on a 300mm major burst pipe on corner Uranium Street and Bushwillow Avenue. The following streets will be affected: Bushwillow Avenue, Richard Road, Frederick Road, Lombardy Road, and Pine Road. There is no estimated time for completion.
Midrand System
The Midrand system is also supplying normally. However, there are isolated incidents of burst pipes that affect water supply in certain areas. There are recurring bursts in different spots along an AC pipeline on Frisee Drive in Country View, Midrand. These have been causing frequent water supply interruptions. Although repairs were concluded on Wednesday night, which included the replacement of about 30m of AC pipeline, another burst occurred on Thursday morning. There is no estimated time for completion. The areas affected are Savanah Hills and Country View.

Update: Alexandra water supply
Johannesburg Water is aware of the current water supply challenges in parts of Alexandra, where residents are experiencing poor pressure to no water.
The Randtjieslaagte reservoir, which supplies a portion of Alexandra, is currently on bypass mode due to a burst pipe at the reservoir precinct.
Technical teams are currently on the ground attending to the burst pipe; however, there is no estimated time for completion.
Johannesburg Water is arranging alternative water supply.
