Systems Update
Rand Water Palmiet Pump Station maintenance
Rand Water Palmiet Pump Station maintenance has been completed and the station is now pumping at full load (100%).
However, Johannesburg Water systems have declined, and some are empty. The recovery of the systems will not be immediate, and some reservoirs and towers will recover within a week, while some will take longer.
Johannesburg Water is monitoring all systems supplied from the Palmiet Pump Station and is implementing necessary interventions to facilitate timeous recovery and reduce impact to customers. The following systems are recovering:
South Hills Tower
The tower is supplying normally; however, it may be affected by poor supply as the demand is increasing. Airlocks on the bulk supply are being addressed.
Alexander Park Reservoir
The reservoir improved overnight and is supplying fairly. However, the demand remains high and mostly exceeds available supply. The outlet will be closed overnight to build capacity.
Randjieslaagte and Linksfield reservoirs
Both reservoirs have improved and are supplying fairly. Poor pressure may be experienced by customers in high-lying areas.
Sandton System
The Sandton systemâs reservoirs and towers are low and declining due to poor incoming supply. A combination of poor pressure to no water is expected in certain parts of the supply zones. The Entity is monitoring the system and is putting necessary interventions to facilitate equitable distribution.
â˘Bryanston Reservoir and Tower: Both the reservoir and tower have declined but are supplying fairly.
â˘Linbro Park, Morningside and Marlboro reservoirs: All reservoirs declined but are supplying fairly. Johannesburg Water is monitoring the situation.
â˘Illovo Reservoir and Tower: The reservoir is critically low while the tower is empty. Poor pressure to no water is expected in both reservoir and tower zones. Johannesburg Water is monitoring and putting necessary interventions to facilitate the recovery of the reservoir and tower.
The Sandton direct feeds have improved and are supplying fairly.
Midrand system
The reservoirs and towers in the Midrand system are declining due to poor incoming supply, and customers will be affected by poor pressure to no water.
â˘President Park Reservoirs and Tower: The reservoir is critically low and poor pressure to no water is expected in the supply zone; while the tower is on bypass mode and is affected by poor pressure to no water.
â˘Rabie Ridge Reservoir and Tower: The reservoir improved overnight and is supplying fairly, while the tower is constrained. A combination of poor pressure to no water is expected in high-lying areas of the tower zone.
â˘E-Rand Reservoir and Tower: The reservoir is low and declining due to poor supply. Poor pressure may occur in high-lying areas of the supply zone. The tower is on bypass and may be affected by poor pressure to no water. Johannesburg Water is monitoring and putting necessary interventions to facilitate recovery of both systems.
â˘Grand Central Reservoir and Tower: The reservoir is low and declining due to poor supply. Poor pressure may occur in high-lying areas of the supply zone. The tower is empty, and no water is expected. Pumping will resume once the reservoir level improves adequately. The Entity is monitoring and putting necessary interventions to facilitate recovery of both systems.
Johannesburg Water continues providing alternative water for affected areas.

Customer Notice
City Power Load Reduction affects Yeoville Pump Station
City Power has implemented load reduction, which affected pumping at Johannesburg Waterâs Yeoville Pump Station this morning. Pumping had stopped during the load reduction period between 06:30 and 09:00.
Intermittent supply was experienced during the load reduction period, and supply will gradually restore a few hours after the load reduction period.
Johannesburg Water is monitoring areas affected by the City Power outage and load reduction schedule and will provide updates as they become available.

Update: Commando System
There is a City Power outage that is currently affecting pumping at Johannesburg Waterâs Crosby Pump Station. Johannesburg Water is monitoring the Commando System and continues to implement necessary interventions to boost capacity and ensure fair distribution of water.
Crosby Reservoir
The reservoir has seen slight improvements and is supplying fairly; however, it remains low. The power outage is affecting pumping to the Brixton Reservoir.
Hursthill 1 and 2 Reservoirs
Hursthill 1 is currently on bypass mode, resulting in poor pressure and no water in the supply zone. Reconfiguration measures are being implemented to boost supply and provide relief to customers. Hursthill 2 remains low but supplying fairly. The reservoir is constrained due to demand exceeding available capacity, which leads to poor pressure in high-lying areas. The outlet may be closed overnight to boost capacity for the next day.
Brixton Reservoir and Tower
The reservoir levels are critically low due to the City Power outage affecting the Crosby Pump Station. The outlet is closed, and no water is expected in the supply zone. Pumping will resume once the power supply is restored. There is currently no estimated time for restoration. The tower is supplying fairly but will be affected by the reservoirâs low levels. Poor pressure to no water is expected while pumping is on hold.

City Power Outage in Florida North/Glen Substation Affecting Johannesburg Water (JW) Infrastructure
Due to a power outage at the Florida North/Glen Substation, Johannesburg Water’s Waterval and Quellerina Towers are currently empty. No water is expected in the supply zones of these towers. There is currently no estimated time of restoration. Pumping will resume once the power supply is restored.
The Witpoortjie Tower is also empty due to the power outage, resulting in no water in its supply zone. There is no estimated time of restoration at this point. Pumping will resume as soon as power is restored.
Further updates will be provided to customers.

Systems Update
The maintenance at Rand Water’s (RW) Palmiet Pump Station has been completed, and the station is now operating at full capacity (100%).
However, Johannesburg Water (JW) systems have declined, with some even running empty. The recovery process for these systems will not be immediate; some reservoirs and towers may recover within a week, while others may take longer.
JW is actively monitoring all systems supplied by the Palmiet Pump Station and implementing necessary interventions to facilitate timely recovery and minimize the impact on customers. The following systems are impacted or in the process of recovery:
South Hills Tower
The tower is currently supplying normally but may experience issues due to poor supply and high demand during the recovery phase.
Alexander Park Reservoir
is currently empty due to inadequate incoming supply. Customers in the supply zone may experience low water pressure or no water. The outlet will be closed overnight to build capacity.
Randjieslaagte and Linksfield Reservoirs
are low but showing signs of improvement. However, customers in high-lying areas may experience low water pressure.
The Sandton System’s reservoirs and towers are low and declining due to insufficient incoming supply, though they are still supplying fairly. JW is monitoring the system and implementing necessary interventions to ensure equitable distribution.
Bryanston Reservoir and Tower have both declined but are still supplying fairly.
Linbro Park, Morningside, and Marlboro Reservoirs
These reservoirs have also declined but are still supplying fairly. JW is closely monitoring the situation.
Illovo Reservoir and Tower is critically low, and the tower is empty. Customers in these areas may experience low water pressure or no water. JW is monitoring the situation and taking necessary measures to facilitate recovery.
The direct feeds have shown improvement and are supplying fairly.
Midrand System
Reservoirs in the Midrand systems are currently declining due to poor incoming supply, leading to low water pressure or no water for customers.
Diepsloot and President Park Reservoirs and Towers are critically low to empty, and customers can expect low water pressure or no water.
Rabie Ridge Reservoir and Tower
The reservoir is low but still supplying fairly. The tower is constrained, leading to a mix of low pressure and no water, particularly in high-lying areas.
ERand and Grand Central Reservoirs and Towers
Both reservoirs and towers are low and declining, with customers likely to experience low water pressure or no water. JW is monitoring the situation and implementing necessary interventions for recovery.
Johannesburg Water is providing alternative water sources for affected areas.
