Systems Update
Rand Water maintenance: Zwartkopjes and Daleside Pump Stations
Rand Waterâs Zwartkopjes Pump Station continues to supply at full load (100%), and Johannesburg Water systems supplied from Zwartkoppies are stable and supplying normally. However, due to the interconnected nature of the systems, they mutually augment and affect each other, so Johannesburg Water is closely monitoring all systems.
Johannesburg Waterâs Daleside Pump Station also continues to supply at full load (100%). While the Entityâs systems are back into normal operation, they are however constrained due to high demand; and this is exacerbated by the growing population, vandalism of infrastructure, and illegal connections.
Orange Farm Reservoir
It is supplying fairly but the water levels are decreasing due to high demand. This is attributed to the increased population and illegal connections, which have led to increased demand and ultimately making the system unstable and causing poor supply and no water in some areas. As part of daily interventions, the reservoir outlet is closed overnight and reopened the next morning to build capacity.
Ennerdale Reservoir
The system is supplying fairly but declining due to the high demand exceeding available supply. which makes the system unstable. This is due to the rapid increase of the population and illegal connections. Subsequently, residents in high-lying areas of the supply zone can expect a combination of low water pressure to no water.
Lawley Reservoir
The reservoir is critically low and declining due to high demand, which is affecting the stability of the system, as such a combination of poor pressure to no water is expected in the supply zone.
Johannesburg Water is monitoring all systems and will provide updates as they become available.

Systems Update
Rand Water Maintenance: Palmiet Update
The second phase (two of three) of the maintenance at Rand Waterâs Palmiet Pump Station is scheduled to take place from 15 to 17 July 2024, during which pumping will be reduced to 68% for 50 hours.
Currently, the system is operating at 100% and all Johannesburg Water systems supplied from Palmiet are operating normally.
â˘The Linksfield Reservoir and the South Hills Tower and direct feeds are supplying normally.
â˘The Alexander Park Reservoir is supplying fairly but the water levels are low due to high demand. The outlet will be closed overnight to build capacity.
â˘The Randjieslaagte Reservoirs are supplying fairly.
â˘The Sandton system and direct feeds are supplying normally.
â˘The Midrand systems and direct feeds are also supplying normally.
Johannesburg Water continues to closely monitor all systems and continues to provide alternative water supply to systems affected customers.

Rand Water Maintenance: Eikenhof Pump Station
Eikenhof Pump Station maintenance that has been scheduled continues until 12 July 2024. Majority of Johannesburg Water systems have improved and are now operating normally, except for the following:
Commando system
The system is under strain since there is not enough supply to fulfil the demand. Reconfigurations have been made daily and will continue to ensure that the available capacity is distributed fairly.
Crosby Reservoir
The reservoir remains critically low, and poor pressure is expected in high-lying areas of the supply zone. Pumping to the Brixton Reservoir continues at 50% to 70%, depending on available inflow.
Brixton Reservoir and Tower
The reservoir remains low and but supplying fairly. The outlet will be closed overnight to retain capacity. The tower levels are currently low but supplying fairly, this is due to the reservoir capacity. Pumping will continue at 50 percent to maintain stable reservoir levels.
Hursthill 1 and 2 Reservoirs
Both reservoirs are constrained and poor pressure to no water is expected in the supply zone. As part of interventions, the Hursthill 1 Reservoir has been reconfigured to boost supply from neighboring zones, while the outlet of Hursthill 2 Reservoir improved overnight but the capacity is affected by high demand. The outlet will be closed overnight to retain capacity. A combination of poor pressure to no water is expected in the supply zone, especially in high-lying areas.
Doornkop West Reservoir improved overnight but it is affected by high demand. Poor pressure may be expected in high-lying areas of the supply zone.
Protea Glen Reservoir and Tower are supplying fairly, however, there are localised outages that resulting to a combination of poor pressure to no water.
Johannesburg Water will closely monitor all systems and continue to provide alternative water supply to affected customers.
