Systems Update
Systems affected by City Power outage at Rand Water’s Eikenhof pump station
Central System
⢠Crosby reservoir is critically low. Poor pressure to no water is expected in the supply zone.
⢠Brixton reservoir and tower are both critically low. The reservoir outlet will be throttled (reduced pressure) to 80% overnight. Pumping will resume as soon as the reservoir recovers.
⢠Hursthill 1 & 2 reservoirs are both critically low. Poor pressure to no water is expected in the supply zone. Hursthill 2 reservoir outlet will be throttled to 80% overnight.
⢠Crown Gardens reservoir and towers are low. The reservoir outlet will be throttled to 80% overnight. Poor pressure to no water is expected in the reservoir zone.
⢠Eagles Nest reservoir is critically low, supplying fairly to Alan Manor and Naturena reservoirs. Poor is expected in the supply zone.
Soweto system
⢠Chiawelo reservoir, Diepkloof reservoir and Orlando East reservoir are supplying normally. Johannesburg Water is monitoring the impact.
⢠Jabulani reservoir is on bypass and supplying fairly. Poor pressure is expected in the supply zone.
⢠Doornkop West reservoir outlet closed overnight. Poor pressure to no water is expected in the supply zone.
⢠Braamfischer, Power Park and Meadowlands reservoirs outlet will be throttled to 70% overnight. Poor pressure to no water is expected in the supply zone.
⢠Zondi reservoir & tower and Protea Glen reservoir are currently low but supplying normally. Poor pressure is expected in the supply zone.
Randburg system
⢠Linden 1 reservoir and tower are both critically low. Poor pressure to no water is expected in the supply zone.
⢠Linden 2 reservoir, Honeydew reservoir and tower, Cosmo City reservoir, Boschkop reservoir, Olivedale reservoir, and Randpark Ridge reservoir are all supplying normally. Poor pressure in certain parts may be expected as the system is still constrained.
⢠Robertsville reservoir, Corriemoor reservoir, Kensington-B reservoir, Fairlands reservoir, Helderkruin reservoir, Witpoortjie reservoir and tower and Blairgowrie reservoir are throttled to 70%. Poor pressure to no water may be expected overnight while the reservoirs are throttled.
⢠Kensington-B tower, Helderkruin tower, Constantia tower, Florida North tower, and Horizon tower are all supplying fairly, but may be affected by poor supply.
⢠Quellerina tower and Waterval tower are both empty. No water is expected in the supply zone. Pumping will resume as soon as Waterval system recovers.
Customers are requested to repair leaks on their properties as these also contribute to the high demand on Johannesburg Water systems. Residents are requested to observe level-1 water restrictions which are implemented from 1 September to 31 March. These restrictions prohibit the use of hosepipes to water gardens, wash cars, clean driveways, as well as fill up swimming pools and water features between 06:00 and 18:00. Instead, the use of greywater is encouraged.

Systems Update
Commando System
The system is constrained with Hursthill 1 reconfigured to improve supply. Hursthill 2 reservoir improved overnight and is supplying normal, however due to high demand and system constraint the levels will drop quickly. High-lying areas might have poor water pressure and no water my occur during evening peak. Alternative water supply will be available for high-lying areas.
Crosby reservoir is scheduled for 14-hour shutdown on Tuesday, 5 March 2024, starting at 06h00 and due to end at 20h00. Subsequently to Crosby shutdown, Brixton reservoir and tower zone will be on shutdown due to system to configuration which will be utilised for reservoir cleaning.
Affected areas: Hursthill, Crosby, Auckland Park, Jan Hofmeyer, Vredepark, Vrededorp. Sophiatown, Corronationville, Westdene.
Sandton System
The Sandton system is supplying normally. Illovo and Bryanston Towers remain affected by load shedding and prolonged power outages. Sandton supply will be isolated overnight and Sunday night as per the schedule. All reservoir outlets will be throttled about 80 percent overnight to retain capacity. Poor pressure may be expected in the supply zone while the system is isolated.
Berea reservoir
Berea reservoir has improved but remains low due to high demand. Poor pressure to can be expected in high-lying areas of the supply zone.
Affected areas: Bertrams, Lorentville, Judith Paarl, Bruma, Bezuitenhout Valley, De Wetshof, Cyreledene.
Power Park reservoir
The Power Park reservoir repairs were completed at 2am this morning. The outlet has been opened and the network is recharging. It will take several hours for the system to be fully recovered.
Affected areas: Eldorado Park and extensions, Eldorado Park Estate, Nancefield Industrial, Nancefield Hostel, Klipspruit and extensions, Klipspruit West, and extensions, all Pimville zones and extensions, Klipriviersoog, Klipriviersoog Estate.
Aeroton and Orlando East reservoir
No supply to Aeroton reservoir which will impact on Aeroton reservoir supply zone, Aeron tower supply zone and Orlando East reservoir supply zone. Johannesburg Water and bulk supplier are still investigating the cause of no water. An update will be provided as soon as it becomes available, there is no expected time of restoration.
President Park reservoir
Improved overnight and supplying normal however due to high demand the supply will be throttled overnight to retain capacity. Poor pressure to no water can be expected in the supply zone overnight while the system is throttled.

The following reservoirs will either be closed or throttled to 90% overnight (between 20:00 and 04:00) to retain water and build capacity for the next day:
⢠Soweto: Doornkop West and Naturena
⢠Commando: Brixton and Hursthill 2
⢠Deep South: Orange Farm reservoir 2, Lenasia high-level, Lenasia Hospital Hill, Lawley
⢠President Park reservoir
Customers supplied by these reservoirs may experience poor pressure to no flow. Alternative water supply has been arranged through water tankers for the affected areas. Johannesburg Water continues to monitor the above systems.
Customers are requested to repair leaks on their properties as these also contribute to the high demand on Johannesburg Water systems. Residents are requested to observe level-1 water restrictions which are implemented from 1 September to 31 March. These restrictions prohibit the use of hosepipes to water gardens, wash cars, clean driveways, as well as fill up swimming pools and water features between 06:00 and 18:00. Instead, the use of greywater is encouraged.

Systems Update
Commando System
The supply is normal, but the system is still under pressure. Hursthill 1 is reconfigured to increase capacity, and Hursthill 2 Reservoir is reduced. High-lying areas are likely to have poor water pressure or none. Areas affected will have access to alternative water sources.
Affected areas:
Hursthill, Crosby, Auckland Park, Jan Hofmeyer, Vredepark, Vrededorp. Sophiatown, Corronationville, Westdene.
Sandton System
The system is currently recovering after overnight restriction. Most reservoirs are supplying normally while Illovo is critically low and impacting on Illovo tower. Poor pressure may be expected in Illovo res and tower zone.
Waterval and Whiteridge System
System is supplying normally while Linden 1 Reservoir that supplies Blawgarie Reservoir is under strain and poor pressure is expected in high-lying areas of the reservoir zone.
Berea reservoirs
Berea reservoir has improved but remains low due to high demand. Poor pressure to can be expected in high-lying areas of the supply zone.
Affected areas:
Bertrams, Lorentville, Judith Paarl, Bruma, Bezuitenhout Valley, De Wetshof, Cyreledene
Power Park reservoir
The reservoir is currently empty due to no incoming supply from the bulk supplier.
Alternative water supply in the form of tankers will be provided in affected areas.
Technical teams are currently on site working to resolve the issue.

Eldorado Park and extensions, Eldorado Park Estate, Nancefield Industrial, Nancefield Hostel, Klipspruit and extensions, Klipspruit West and extensions, all Pimville zones and extensions, Klipriviersoog, Klipriviersoog Estate.

Sandton System
The system is currently stable due to the overnight isolation. Most reservoirs are supplying normally while Illovo and Bryanston pump stations are currently affected by the prolonged load shedding and extended power outages.
Waterval and Whiteridge System
System is supplying normally while Linden 1 Reservoir that supplies Blawgarie Reservoir is under strain and Kensington B Reservoir is recovering after repairs.
Berea reservoirs
Berea reservoir remains critical low due to high demand and poor supply. Poor pressure to no water can be expected in high-lying areas of the supply zone.
Affected areas:
Bertrams, Lorentville, Judith Paarl, Bruma, Bezuitenhout Valley, De Wetshof, Cyreledene
President Park reservoir
The reservoir is critically low due to high demand in the system. Customers are requested to reduced demand as the system is constrained.

Residents in Sandton are requested to please be aware of a
possible scam that has emerged in recent weeks.
An unknown individual is alleged to be impersonating a
Johannesburg Water official who visits the homes of Bryanston
residents and informs them they are there to replace their water
meters. The impersonator then proceeds to charge customers a
cash payment for the âservices renderedâ.
Please be informed that Johannesburg Water officials will under
no circumstances ask customers for cash payment for services
rendered.
